04 · Apply it: controls, care, and support
Turn what you watched into a practical reference for your own RV.
Build your control map
Using the manual’s illustration, list the start/stop control, fuel selector, gasoline primer, reset, AC breaker, and three status lights. Record where your coach’s remote controls are located. If the physical controls do not match, stop and confirm the correct documentation with RVMP.
Read the light precisely
- Steady low-oil light: follow the stopped-engine oil-level check in the 4000em manual.
- Flashing low-oil light: the manual describes an abnormal condition detected by the ECU; a service provider needs diagnostic equipment.
- Overload light: it can indicate several abnormal conditions. Remove electrical demand and follow the manual’s recovery instructions. Repeated trips need service.
Make a care record
Record operating hours, maintenance dates, the work completed, and any parts used. Find the engine break-in and periodic-maintenance sections before scheduling service. Follow the full schedule, including operating-condition notes.
A service-ready observation
“My 4000em runs on [fuel]. When [load] starts, the engine [continues/stops], the [named light] is [steady/flashing], and power [changes]. Hours: [number]. Last maintenance: [date/work].”
Keep your model and serial number with that note. Use generator warranty support when appropriate, or ask RVMP support for the next step. Continue with Troubleshooting Your Generator for a broader symptom-based course.
